May 20th, 2007 in Airport and Plane, Reservations Tags: airplane seats, entertainment, flying with kids, on the plane.Have you ever flown and wished you had a different seat? Then you should know about SeatGuru.com. It lists seat maps to all of the different aircrafts, categorized by airline. Poor seats are color-coded in red; seats to be aware of are coded yellow; and good seats are in green. Amenities such as legroom, video, and food are described in detail. There are also details on each airline such as phone number and links.
Sure, this seems like something more ideally suited for the business traveler. Someone who cares about seat pitch and leg room. What does choice of airplane seat matter for my family, you ask? Plenty. On our last trip, the boys were excited that there was going to be a movie on the plane. Little did we realize that they were too short to see the monitors, located far from their seats. Using SeatGuru.com would have solved that little problem for us. Do your kids love to look out the window of the plane? SeatGuru will warn you which seats don’t have a view. You can also find which seats don’t recline, which are close to the bathrooms, when meals are served, the location of the power ports, and where the exit rows are located. All useful information when travelling with children.
SeatGuru suggests picking your seat at the time you book your ticket. Sites such as Expedia and Travelocity allow you to choose your seat, as do most of the airline Web sites. SeatGuru offers specific instructions on how to find the aircraft type for your flight. Be sure to see if your flight is “operated” by a different airline than the one that sold you your ticket. You should look up the aircraft under the airline that is operating your flight. SeatGuru also has a tab for information on flying with infants for each airline.
With SeatGuru, you will be the passengers in the know. Those around you will grumble about their seat locations, as you knowingly smile and your family gets comfortable in their seats.
